By using the Wavepane website (wavepane.com) or a Wavepane device, you agree to these terms. They're short and plain — read them, please.

The Wavepane website

This site is provided as-is. We may change, suspend, or take it down at any time. Don't try to break it, attack it, or use it to send spam. The contact form and other endpoints are for legitimate communication only.

The Wavepane device

A Wavepane device is hardware that connects to the internet to fetch tide and weather data and display it. You own the device you buy; we keep the intellectual property in the firmware, design, brand, and any documentation we provide.

Don't reverse-engineer, modify, or attempt to clone the firmware or hardware for resale. Personal tinkering for your own use is fine.

Online services

Wavepane uses public APIs (NOAA, Open-Meteo) and our own cloud endpoints (firmware updates, optional crash reports, optional telemetry) to keep the device useful. We make a best effort to keep those endpoints available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. If wavepane.com goes down, your device may stop receiving updates or fresh data until it comes back. The device itself continues to function from its cache.

Over-the-air firmware updates are delivered automatically. You can opt out by leaving the device on a network that has no internet access — though that comes with the obvious downside of no fresh data either.

Pre-orders

If you sign up for the pre-order list, you're letting us know you're interested. It doesn't reserve a unit, doesn't charge you, and doesn't obligate either of us to anything. We'll email you when Wavepane is available for purchase, and you can unsubscribe at any time by replying.

Warranty (when units are available)

Wavepane isn't shipping yet. When commerce begins, the device will be covered by a limited warranty against manufacturing defects (specific terms will be linked from your order confirmation). Until then, this section is a placeholder.

Liability

Wavepane is for ambient information. Don't rely on it for navigation, commercial fishing decisions, or anything where the timing of a tide or the weather has real safety consequences — use authoritative sources for that (NOAA tide tables, marine forecasts, your judgment). Our liability for any issue arising from the device or this website is limited, to the maximum extent allowed by law, to the amount you paid for the device.

Changes to these terms

We'll update this page if anything changes. The "Effective" date at the top reflects the most recent update.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [TBD], United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
