The tide at Folly Beach

The washout and the pier read the tide differently, and the low water at the east end opens sandbars that are not there six hours later.

What the water does here

Folly Beach runs two highs and two lows a day, near enough evenly spaced. Between low and high the water moves about 5.2 feet, averaged across a week of predictions.

A Wavepane on the wall shows that as a picture rather than a table: the water sits where the water sits, and the wave on top grows or flattens with the swell outside. It wakes every half hour, redraws, and goes back to sleep. Nothing to open, nothing to check.
