The tide at Portland

Casco Bay drains and fills around a few hundred islands, so the tide here is the difference between a working waterfront and a mudflat.

What the water does here

Portland runs two highs and two lows a day, near enough evenly spaced. Between low and high the water moves about 9.3 feet, averaged across a week of predictions.

A Wavepane on the wall shows that as a picture rather than a table: the water sits where the water sits, and the wave on top grows or flattens with the swell outside. It wakes every half hour, redraws, and goes back to sleep. Nothing to open, nothing to check.
