The tide at Gloucester
Cape Ann works a nine-foot tide. On the flats at Good Harbor the water goes out far enough that the sandbar to Salt Island opens up — and closes again, on schedule, around whoever wasn’t counting.

What the water does here
Gloucester runs two highs and two lows a day, and rarely the same size twice. Between low and high the water moves about 8.8 feet, averaged across a week of predictions.
