The tide at York Beach

Long Sands is the case study: nine feet of range onto a beach that barely slopes. Where the water is at ten in the morning and where it is at two in the afternoon are not close to each other. Plan the chair accordingly.

What the water does here

York Beach runs two highs and two lows a day, near enough evenly spaced. Between low and high the water moves about 8.7 feet, averaged across a week of predictions.

A Wavepane on the wall shows that as a picture rather than a table: the water sits where the water sits, and the wave on top grows or flattens with the swell outside. It wakes every half hour, redraws, and goes back to sleep. Nothing to open, nothing to check.
